While Hollywood prepare to dole out trophies to a lucky fraction of television’s best and brightest at tonight's 74th Annual Golden Globes, The CW also handed out their own prizes in the form of early renewals at their winter press tour for the 2017-18 season.
Supernatural, The Flash, Jane The Virgin (starring Golden Globe nominee Gina Rodriguez), Arrow, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (featuring Golden Globe nominee Rachel Bloom) have all scored early renewals, TVLine.com reports.
“The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas. Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long," The CW's president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. The good news spread slightly slower than Barry Allen on a sound-barrier-breaking run. Supernatural star and new father of twins, Jensen Ackles tweeted, “Season 13, here we come!!! Thanks to all those who have kept us going this long...what a life changing ride it has been. #SPNFamily forever!”
Jane the Virgin's Gina Rodriguez shared her gratitude in this heartfelt tweet: "Today is a great day, I can and I will. Third globe nom and a 4th season renewal. God is good. Our supporters got us here. I am grateful."
Arrow's Mr. Terrfic, Echo Kellum was rightfully stoked! He writes: "#Arrow just got picked up for season 6! Wohoo!!"
The fate of the network’s other shows, including ill-fated Reign, who may get an eleventh hour save, and iZombie, will be decided later this year.
