Are you feelin’ lucky, punk?
You might not after watching the brand new, bloody and bonkers trailer for Supernatural’s 13th season, which premieres on Oct. 12. The sneak peak cheekily entitled “Lucky Number” thankfully doesn’t include horror’s newest obsession, but it still manages to be more chilling than a creepy clown with a singular red balloon.
The shiny prolonged shot of the beloved 1967 Impala instills a much-needed dose of cool before the grim and gore begin to fly. A panicked Sam (Jared Padalecki) hollers for his brother. Someone gets dragged into a grave. Dean (or a new, more disgusting breed of shapeshifter) rips his flesh off. And Jack, Lucifer’s son, eerily confesses, “When I get scared…things happen.”
Like Jody Mills getting stabbed?! It looks like angels—good and bad—are a primary focus of the season as well. Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles) seem to be battling many feathered foes either protecting a glowing-eyed Jack or for more nefarious reasons. Though, I’m assuming it’s the latter. Some Supernatural spoilers have managed to escape during the summer hellatus. TVLine.com reports that Sam and Dean will essentially adopt Jack in hopes will channel his immense powers for good. “Sam and Dean are, to a large degree, acting as parents in this season, which is a new thing for them and for everyone involved,” EP Andrew Dabb dished to TVLine.com. The Winchesters won’t have much time to mourn the loss of Castiel or their mother, who was yanked back into the apocalypse world in the season 12 finale. They have to contend with Jeffrey Vincent Parise’s Asmodeus who is vying for the deceased Crowley’s job as King. Sam and Dean will definitely have their hands full when Supernatural finally premieres on Oct. 12 at 7/8c on The CW. Photo Credit: TVLine.com
