It’s a testament to my sadist fangirl tendencies that I’m thrilled for the start of USA Network’s cool legal drama, Suits, if only to see fraud Mike Ross finally pay for his crimes.
If you’re unfamiliar with this fashionable series that puts a whole new spin on guilty pleasures, it is about Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), a down-on-his-luck genius with an eidetic memory who convinces a hot shot corporate lawyer to hire him as an associate even though he’s never taken even attended law school. Five bromantic season later, Mike Ross’ ill-kept secret is finally out, and he’s reaping the consequences of his actions by reporting to prison after forgoing marrying the girl of his dreams. If you can’t wait for season 6’s premiere on Wednesday at 9/8c on USA, here are 5 spoilers you need to know….
HBIC, Indeed. At the end of last season, all of the employees and clients had abandoned Pearson Specter Litt. Gina Torres’ Jessica Pearson seems virtually unflappable, but this scandal, which includes a lawsuit to review every case Mike Ross worked, could be the end of her law firm and career. But we know she won’t go down without an extremely vicious fight. TVGuide.com reports that Jessica will launch a “shocking” plan to save her beloved law firm. There’s a reason why she’s the boss, y’all!
Laughter is the best medicine. In light of Mike’s prison stint, Rachel’s broken heart over essentially being left at the altar, and Pearson Specter Litt running on fumes, it seems bizarre for viewers to expect comedy. However, Suits will definitely need lighter moments to temper the direst of straits. TVLine reports that due to the firm literally losing all of their employees and clients, Jessica will be forced with rent out some of the offices to some pretty interesting tenants. Also, Louis is also still there to bring the LOLs.
Prison Blues. Patrick J. Adams confesses that though he’s been sentenced to two years through his plea deal, Mike finds prison freeing at first because he’s no longer burdened by his secret. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to sail through his time like Teresa Guidice on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. “A threat sort of comes along, and he’s forced into a situation where he needs to start defending himself and coming up with a game plan of how to protect himself over the long haul,” Adams tells EW.com. I guess we’ll have to look on the bright side: Mike loves movies and pop culture, and now he’s living The Shawshank Redemption!
Donna and Harvey get closer. There’s no denying the chemistry between Donna and Harvey. Fans have been clamoring for the work-husband and work-wife to unite outside of the office, and this season just may bring the two closer. While Donna’s doppelganger doesn’t mention romance, Sarah Rafferty explains to TVLine.com that Donna will have to “rise to a whole new level of badassery” in order to help Harvey, who’s struggling emotionally. You may remember that Harvey battled with panic attacks that were linked to his abandonment issues in the early part of season 5. If anyone can keep Harvey healthy and fighting for Mike, it’s Donna.
Guilt by Association. In the behind the scenes look at season 6 above, Gabriel Macht reveals that Harvey has always felt equally responsible in Mike and the firm’s dark times. Macht reveals that he’s willing to do anything to get him out of prison, including but not limited to one mysterious move that outrages his Girl Friday and possible soulmate, Donna.
