It has been a long and joyless summer without the shady shenanigans from force-of-nature, Lucious and Cookie Lyon (Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson respectively) and Co. from Fox’s juggernaut mid-season hit, “Empire.”  Thankfully, I can already smell the cookies baking as the musical drama is slated to return for a second season in just a matter of hours.  If you need to satiate your craving now, don’t worry, I come with spoilers!  Click here for 5 spoilers you need to know for “Empire" season 2!

This captures that exact feeling of waiting for a show that you *know* is going to bring the drama the second it returns.

“Empire” really had a way of making everything feel bigger — the characters, the conflicts, the music — and that absence you mention says a lot about how much energy the show carried. It wasn’t just something you watched, it was something you *experienced*.

And honestly, few shows have characters as instantly iconic as Lucious and Cookie. The anticipation alone makes sense — you’re not just waiting for plot developments, you’re waiting for moments, confrontations, and those unforgettable one-liners.

The lead-in to the spoilers is perfect too. It builds that hype without giving everything away upfront, which is exactly what fans want right before a premiere — just enough to get excited, not enough to ruin the ride.

Definitely feels like the calm before the storm… because if season one was any indication, things are about to get messy in the best way.

This feels like the perfect pre-season hype post — short, punchy, and full of anticipation.

What really comes through is how much “Empire” owned its moment. It wasn’t just another show returning, it was an *event*. The kind of series where you’re not casually tuning in — you’re ready for the drama, the music, the chaos, and especially the Lyon family dynamics.

That line about a “joyless summer” without them is honestly relatable. Some shows leave a gap when they’re gone, but “Empire” left a whole vibe missing. Cookie alone is enough to make people count down the days.

I also like how the spoilers are teased rather than spelled out. It builds curiosity without killing the excitement, which is exactly what fans want right before a new season drops.

Feels like the energy right before everything kicks off again — when you know things are about to escalate, and you’re just waiting for that first moment to hit.
