Geek Christmas, otherwise known as San Diego Comic Con, has come and gone, and thankfully left plenty of spoilers beneath our glowing light sabers, bat signals and comic books.
Though most television shows have just began production, the stars and producers came armed with juicy tidbits and even new trailers. Here are some of the most intriguing news and teasers for new and returning series, like The Flash, Supernatural, Star Trek Discovery and more...
If only The Flash fans could tap into the Speed Force and run to Oct. 9 when season 5 premieres. Last season, Team Flash bested The Thinker, saved Ralph, and discovered that grown daughter Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris' (Candice Patton) daughter, Nora (played by Jessica Parker Kennedy ) has her not only inherited her father's super-speed but also his love of screwing up timelines and has gotten stuck in the past. It's clear early on that she's keeping some heavy, heavy secrets.
Also, Chris Klein is on deck to play this season's Big Bad, Cicada. Armed with nefarious metal lightning bolts, Cicada looks seriously frightening and badass in a way we haven't seen since season 2's Zoom. Don't believe me? Watch the trailer above.
New series Deadly Class feels like an embarrassment of nerdy riches. The geniuses behind Russo Brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War) are executive producing a show about a diverse boarding school where children of crime families learn how to be assassins. Think of it as an American Hogwarts where everyone was sorted into Slytherin and instead of learning the wizarding arts, they learn the deadly kind. Adapted from the graphic novel by Rick Remender, this series is sure to kill in 2019. What do you think of the trailer?
I haven't watched The CW's Arrow regularly in quite a few seasons, but the new trailer just might draw me back in. I'm a sucker for amahzing abs and kickass fight scenes, and this teaser hits both targets.
Since Supernatural has a shorter, 20-episode run, they have yet to finish season 14's first episode, so the trailer above is a kick-ass recap of Season 13. However, that didn't stop stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and the EPs from spilling the deets on the upcoming season. Ackles hints to TVLine.com that his iteration of Michael may stick around for awhile as he enacts his plan to "purify" this earth. My guess is that it will be about 5 to 7 feels-filled episodes, possibly to the winter finale, before the brothers Winchester are truly reunited. In the interim, Sam has protested shaving and is consumed with saving his big brother from angelic possession, and that might mean assembling a team of hunters to help, including Jody Mills and other fan and Wayward favorites.
Looking ahead, specifically to the milestone 300th episode, EP Andrew Dabb has a surprisingly sweet idea. The brothers reside in a small Kansas town, and the 300th episode will be an outsiders' look into how the community view the tall, dark and mysteriously brothers who have taken up residence. "We think it could be a real love letter to the show, in what we hope is going to be a very heartwarming way — with murder. Heartwarming with murder," he dished to TVline.com.
Good things come to those who wait. Since season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery, led by the impossibly awesome Sonequa Martin-Green, does premiere until 2019, fans are in for a fantastic treat. The dashingly handsome Anson Mount will play Captain Christopher Pike, and he's been dispatched to lead the USS Discovery after the Federation deems a series of red orbs and "imminent threat."
In the trailer above, you will see that Michael Burnham has seemingly shed some of the guilt of her crimes in season 1, and seems to be rediscovering the love for her adventures in space. There's also a chance we will hear the iconic phrase "Live long and proposer" this season, too, as the main storyline is also tied to Mr. Spock. Set phasers to stun, amirite?
